The Kookaburra is a very large terrestrial kingfishes native to Australia and New Guinea. The first one ounce Silver Kookaburra was issued in 1990 by the Perth Mint. the Kookaburra comes with or without a number of different privy mark types. The Silver Kookaburra is one of the most collected bullion coins on the market for collectors to buy. The 1oz coin has a 300,000 issue limit for mintage when introduce in 1990, the Kookaburra is the only major silver bullion coin which changes its design every year making it attractive to collectors. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Face value of the coin in 1990 & 1991 was $5 and from 1992 till Present lowered to $1. These coins are issued as legal tender under the 1965 Australian Currency Act.
